In Manchester 48% of carers say either they are neglecting themselves or sometimes can’t look after themselves well enough (Survey of Adult Carers in England 2016/17, Manchester City Council).

We understand that the responsibilities of a carer can be challenging, and it’s easy to neglect our own mental and physical well-being.

It can be difficult to take a break, get enough sleep, exercise, manage stress, look after your back, eat healthily and keep up to date on carer flu vaccines. Contact us and we’ll signpost you to the most suitable organisation for your needs.

The NHS has some short mental wellbeing audio guides that you can listen to in your own time. They include coping with low mood and depression, controlling anxiety, getting a good night’s sleep and dealing with negative thoughts.

Self Help provide a range of support, services and opportunities, across the North West of England, for people living with mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, phobias and panic attacks. They also have online and face to face anxiety and depression support groups across Manchester.
